Tower of Hanoi is one of mathematics' most elegant puzzles, dating back to 1883, now beautifully presented as an interactive browser game. Move an entire stack of disks from the leftmost peg to the rightmost peg, following one rule: a larger disk may never be placed on top of a smaller one. What seems simple with three disks becomes a genuine intellectual challenge with seven or more. The minimum number of moves required is 2ⁿ-1, making the puzzle exponentially harder with each added disk. This game is used worldwide in computer science education to teach recursive thinking.
Click a disk to select it (it lifts up), then click the destination peg to move it. Only the top disk of any peg can be moved. Larger disks cannot go on smaller ones.
